How we check these pages

Every visiting detail on this site comes from a page published by the place itself, or by a public body, with the date we read it.

Where the details come from

Opening times, admission and access are taken from the source listed at the end of each page. We read that page, quote the line the detail comes from, and record the date we read it. The date is what to trust: times and prices change, and a page checked months ago may be out of date.

What we leave out

Conditions worth reading before you travel

Some places can only be visited by arrangement, on set days, in a season, or with only part of the site open. Where a source states such a condition, the page carries it near the top rather than in a footnote.

When something is unclear

If what we recorded and the passage we quoted do not agree, the page says so and does not show a time. If the only page we can read is out of date, the page says that we have not been able to confirm the current conditions. In both cases the source link is there so you can check it yourself.
