Kenchuji Temple

建中寺 · Buddhist temple

Nagoya Convention & Visitors Bureau records that Kenchuji was established in 1651 by Tokugawa Mitsutomo, the second lord of the Owari domain, to pray for his late father Yoshinao, and that it has been the family temple of the Owari Tokugawa family ever since.

The bureau records that the temple gate, built in 1652, is a tower gate of sangen-ikko style. It gives a separate charge for the sutra repository.
