Hoyoji Temple

法用寺 · Buddhist temple

The Aizu Japan Heritage site records that the temple is the 29th of Aizu's 33 Kannon pilgrimage sites, that it is one of the oldest temples in Aizu, built in 720 by Saint Tokudo, and that its three-storied pagoda, completed in 1780, is the only pagoda remaining in Aizu.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records the altar cabinet and Buddhist altar inside the main hall as an Important Cultural Property of the late Kamakura period.
