The Himeji Convention & Visitors Bureau records that the scholar Kibi no Makibi built the shrine's main building at the end of the Nara period, after returning from China.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records the shrine's main hall as an Important Cultural Property of the middle Muromachi period.
