Motsuji Temple
毛越寺 · Buddhist temple
The temple's own English pages record that, according to the temple history, Motsuji was founded in 850 by the priest Ennin, and that much of it was built under Motohira and Hidehira of the Fujiwara clan.
They record three plaques naming the temple a Special Historic Site, a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and a World Heritage Site, and a garden laid out around a pond called Oizumi ga Ike.
