Aoi Aso Shrine

青井阿蘇神社 · Shinto shrine

Kumamoto Prefecture's official tourism website records that the shrine is said to have been founded in 806, and that its present buildings were constructed between 1609 and 1613 under the order of the regional lord Nagatsune Sagara.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records the shrine's main hall as a National Treasure of the Momoyama period.
