Sado City's tourism website records that the shrine once enshrined the tutelary deity that protected Rengebuji Temple, and that it was separated from the temple in the Meiji period.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs records the shrine's main hall as an Important Cultural Property of the early Edo period.
