Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine
山王総本宮 日吉大社 · Shinto shrine
The Biwako Otsu Tourism Association records that Hiyoshi Taisha is the main shrine of the Sanno Festival and has more than 3,800 branch shrines around the country, and that its grounds hold close to 40 shrines.
The association records that the shrine is known for the monkey deity Masaru. Several of the sub-shrine halls in the grounds, among them Ushio-jinja and Usagu, are on the national cultural property register.

The tourism association's Sakamoto route reaches Hiyoshi Taisha ten minutes on foot from Saikyo-ji. The shrine opens earlier than Saikyo-ji, at 6:00 from April to September, so the order of the walk is set by Saikyo-ji's 9:00 opening.
